Living the 1099
Living the 1099 is your little oasis in the insane world of freelancing, consulting and entrepreneurship. When I started out, I knew nothing and had to figure out every last detail on my own. Eventually, a few great people came along and shared some knowledge with me (like my great accountant Diane!). I wish that had happened sooner, because it would have saved me a lot of heartache.
The purpose of Living the 1099 is not to show you specifically how to incorporate your business, or set up your Quickbooks… there are lots of sites and services out there that already address these things. Instead, my goal is to share tips, thoughts, stories, and helpful guides, in the same manner I would with my consulting clients. Open, friendly, all with the hope that some of the things I’ve learned along the way will be helpful to you. In return, I’m hoping you’ll share some of your tips and stories with me! Every day is a learning journey for me, and I hope we can both be better freelancers, consultants, entrepreneurs, and employees through the information we’re going to share with each other. So go ahead and visit the blog and join in!
